Skills Camp 2016

This year will be the 6th running of the very successful County Skills Camp and will be held again at Ullesthorpe Scout Campsite over the weekend of May 6th to May 8th inclusiveCub Camp June 15 SW-13

This camp is being held to help preserve & instruct all leaders from all areas of Scouting including GSLs, Cub, Beaver and Scout section members and also Young Leaders into the basic scouting skills and covers most aspects of scouting including

  • Setting up a camp, putting up tents and lightweight camping
  • Lighting fires, wood properties and backwoods cooking
  • Using a map and compass, navigation and hiking
  • Pioneering
  • The use of an axe and a bow saw.
  • Simple knots and lashings

These six scouting skills bases will be manned by experienced Scouters from Leicestershire and beyond and all course attendees can be Module 18 validated on completion of the course if they have not done so, or can be taken as on-going learning for those that have done the training

All in cost of £30.00 covers all camp fees and all catering and as it is training, this cost should come from group funds. If you know of anyone who would be interested in attending this course or you are yourself interested then contact Steve Dowell.
