To all the Scout Leaders,
We are planning on running the expedition challenge for the district again in 2023. The challenge badge will be completed over two weekends; a training weekend and the actual expedition. The participants must attend both weekends.
The complete cost which covers both weekends will be £35.00, and will include food.
The training weekend will be from Friday 10th till Sunday 12th March 2023 at John’s Lee
Wood. We will go through First Aid, Navigation and Equipment, as well as planning the final
route for the expedition.
The Expedition will be on Saturday 16th – Sunday 17th April 2023 and will be including a night over at The Oaks Campsite. More information about drop-off and pick up will be made available to those who want to join in.
There is a small team of people already supporting this but this event will be easier with more volunteers. Whether you want to support with the training weekend, as base or hiking support on the expedition or happy to give time to both, the help will gladly be accepted!
We would also ask that at least one leader attends with members of their troop as familiarity.
We are also looking at an advance programme for those who have already completed the Expedition Challenge with us in the last couple of years, so that we provide something for all.
If you are interested in your troop taking part, please can you let me know by the 30th January 2023.
We will need numbers by Sunday 12th February 2023, and health forms will be sent to those who are interested in them to bring with them – we will need a paper copy to avoid signal issues.
